Barry and Penarth MRC is now one of the largest and most active model railway clubs in South Wales, with around 50 members with interests in most scales and gauges from N to O-Gauge, including an active NMRA group (Red Dragon Modellers). The Newport & South Wales Railway Museum is a combined Railwayana Museum and Model Railway Club. Inbetween over 10 layouts (N to O gauge) you will discover display cabinets and Railwayana collections. Curiosities such as the re-creation of a GWR Station Masters Office greeting you. A working signal box 2 lever frame assembly that you can operate. DCC fitting service and weathering available to members and guests. We also have a DCC demonstration track, Hornby eLink, EZ command and Prodigy.

We are currently developing exhibition quality DC and DCC layouts in N, 009, OO and O gauge. The club welcomes new members and encourage them to develop their skills at their own pace. Rhoose & the Vale Model Railway Group hold regular club nights on Monday evenings 7.30 at Rhoose Social Club. We have a well established 00 gauge layout which has now been fully redeveloped and lit. Our giant N gauge layout has been completed and members are now enjoying running stock on the lines. In addition we have an extensive library for research into all areas railway.
New members and visitors are always welcome to our clubroom and visits can be arranged on alternative evenings.

Members skills vary and interests range from 'Z' to 'G' scale (And beyond .).
