I came in the other week looking for materials for a Steampunk accessory - Iris could not have been more helpful. When I returned the next week, she had exactly the stuff I needed to make the "aether collection device" I had designed for my top hat. Only cost a couple of quid, too!

Unlike the last comment! Every-time I have visited this shop I found it to be open, except once & that was my own fault because I didn't read the new opening times correctly. I meet up with my sister once a month to pay our respects to our Mum & Dad who have been cremated at Macclesfield Crematorium & I always call in at the model shop. If the lady is not there she always has someone to cover & I've always had excellent advice from this shop & found them very helpful & approachable. Yes the shop is small but it is certainly well stocked & if you cannot find what you want she will get it for you. The shops definitely worth a visit...

Small quaint shop that's rarely open with no parking.
It is rare for the woman behind the counter to even know what day it is not alone help with your query.
Most items are 10-30% more expensive than anywhere else.
With all that said it is a handy local shop that at a pinch might just be able to help you if you're desperate that is of course if it's open. [Response: "Reply to James from Macclesfield. I am the woman behind the counter and have been for 29+ yrs but not in the last 6 months as i have been having and still are having cancer treatment. If you had read the notice on the door you would have seen the opening times and they are also on facebook. So sorry my cancer has interefed with your modelling . Iris."]

Although I live in essex, I regularly visit family in stockport, and I have been going to this shop since it opened (Which was 1989, I think). It used to be almost exclusively radio control, but now stocks most model items. They have a good selection of kits, paints and tools. The proprietor, iris, is very knowlegeable, and will offer good advice on kits and radio control items. One of the best shpps I know. Easy to find, and there is cheap parking just around the corner.

This independent shop has now been trading over 25 years (So that speaks volumes in itself), the owner is very friendly, helpful & knowledgeable on products not only stocked items but items that can be ordered, this is a compact shop (Aladdin's cave) with a good range of products for all types of modelling & more, but occasionally runs out of some items but seems to have a good supply network with quick deliveries. This shop is within walking distance of the local bus & train stations & local parking.
