The railway side of this shop is quite large and the first two-thirds of it well stocked and tidy. The counter is large and there always seem to be plenty of staff available. So if you are OO gauge you are very well catered for. My gripe is the same as it was when I first visited over 3 years ago and every visit since. If you want n gauge you will find the (few) locos at the far end of the shop behind piles of boxes and packaging obstructing access to the sparsely stocked cabinet. If you want rolling stock it is on shelves behind a small untidy counter/desk work area that effectively prevents access, where they are not displayed, merely stacked in their boxes so all you can see is the item number and/or description. N gauge buildings and accessories are easier to get to, but often mixed with their OO counterparts. Surely I can't be the only one to have walked out without a purchase because I refuse to be treated as unimportant enough to be presented with a decent, easily reached and examinable range because I happen to be n gauge.

Visited it whilst on business in town. A well-lit and well laid out shop but sadly lacking customers, then I realised why - it was more of a box shifter rather than a serious model shop. Pity because it has a lot of untapped potential within.

The second of the shops of my visit to Hampshire, the wife sews I look at model railways.
First impressions are good, you walk into well lit shop, that is laid out with lots of scalextric and other products, but I am here to see what their trains are like, at the front of the shop the shelves are well laid out with a mixture of scenecraft and similar products, you do have to poke around a bit to find exaclty what you might scales are separated ( just) but that where it tends to stop, town, industrial and lineside all tended to be a mixed up, the counter is at the back of the shop, and the lighting back there is not the best, not helped by dark wood shelving, there is a good selection of coaches and rolling stock, Train sets are set up high, learn from the supermarkets AC models, kids want train sets, put them at kids eye level!
Halfway down the counter in the middle of the walkway you are greeted by an immovable object that goes by the name of the "Woodland Scenics2 stand, which from a quick browse is just like all the others I've seen, over stocked and over priced, just past this on the right is what I would term as the "forgotten" section, a mass of stuff on hooks with no rhyme or reason why they are there, perhaps they put the hooks on the wall then played hoopla with the products, different turnouts on the same hooks, insulfrog mixed with electo, I wonder if anyone walks out with what they actually think they are buying!
Then we comme to the boxes, there appears to be what looks like a very stressed man sitting at a desk surrounded by boxes full of stock, these are at various stages of being emptied, I could only assume it is stock coming into the shop. There are so many they are stacked in front of what looks like another Woodland scenics atand full of the aforesaid overpriced polystyrene risers which judging by the age of the packing and the dust are not "fast movers" so it ownt hurt sales stopping customers getting at them !
The staff though are friendly, over so but that might be to the regulars only, smiles are free for them, I was just about to ask how much one was when I spotted SWMBO heaidn towards me.

Very friendly service. I am an 'N Gauge' enthusiast and I can always get any items I need. If it isn't in stock it is always ordered straight away and I don't have to wait very long for delivery. Thank you Annette and Clive (always ready for a chat and advice.

Having expanded to no.9 high street ac models continue to excell. The shop now has a greater range of railway related products on display from N to G gauge including paints, glues, kits etc. The staff are friendly and the proces keen. if you’re in the area I would suggest a visit - plenty of local parking and only a few minutes walk from eastleigh railway station. Local shops nearby can be the distraction for the wife/girlfriend/partner while you shop for that new loco !!

Ac models has now taken over the adjacent shop, which is about three times the size and allows many more items to be displayed and new product ranges are being stocked. The old shop is to re-open soon for spares, repairs and a new range of wargaming productsStaff always knowledgeable and service is excellent. As a regular visitor I usually find what I came in for.
