Thought it was about time I reviewed my local model shop! Stockists of all the common names in popular scales, and very happy to get "To order" Or do mail order. Lots of 'little bits' dotted around tools, paints etc and all the essentials from a pack of track pins up to a complete set. Also helpfully open on Sundays for a few hours for those inevitable "Run out of essential bits" Disasters. They also stock cards and gifts, and can order books for you too. They've just got a facebook page as well. Worth checking out, especially if you're on your way to or from gatwick as there's plenty of restaurants and takeaways nearby that'll be much better than airport slop.

This shop has improved in leaps and bounds since the new owners have taken over. Both the amount and diversity of products now being stocked has improved immensely, staff very friendly too, which is a great help. location of shop is helped by having a large car park very close by.

Change of ownership a godsend. The name scale rail (Originally referring to the superb shop in eastbourne had been tarnished by the previous management. The new management is friendly and knowledgeable and is aiming to expand their model railway stock. I have specialist requirements (European outline modeller) but still found something I needed in the shop, despite the renaissance of the business being still in its early days. Due to the almost non-existence of model railway shops in the south london area (And the london area as a whole) this counts as one of my nearest retailers despite being down 35 mins away down the m25/m23!
