Still an excellent model shop it changed ownership at the start of February 2016.
The new owners (Jackie & Simon) are friendly and most welcoming and have slightly re-organised the shop giving it a much lighter and roomier air. Taking on a new business is always a challenge and the new owners are settling in well with the shop being on the 'well worth a visit' list.
Both are helpful in terms of looking and selecting models with a test-track for new locomotives (etc). Whilst items can sometimes be found cheaper via mail-order this does not provide for the ability to inspect and test models - a major advantage when you have such a helpful shop.
The shop is a ten minute walk from Uckfield railway station; slightly less on the downhill return. There is parking in a long lay-by almost opposite else just off the High Street.

Have used the hobby box for many years both the old one and under the new managment. Always have good service and advice, will go the extra mile for the customer. Good stocks and prices plus all the other bits needed. Parking never normally a problem just a short walk from the shop. Worth a detour.

Well worth a visit! this is such a well-stocked friendly model shop that sometimes struggles to display all its goods - so don’t be afraid to ask if you can’t see what you want! it caters for uk outline railway modelling (2mm and 4mm with a limited 7mm range) as well as rc model aircraft and boats. It is stocks a good range of all the small detailing part including transfers /decals, loco parts & scenic items. they are very helpful and will order in stock if asked. Similarly they will post goods out to you. unless requested otherwise N & 00 locomotives are test-run in the shop; a facility not all shops or on-line merchants offer. The shop is under ten minutes walk from uckfield station and there is usually plenty of on-street parking further up the hill or in the nearby car-park (Regency close off church street). ps - at the risk of sounding sexist while i’m browsing in the hobbybox my partner undertakes her browsing in the excellent (Unrelated) fabric shop in buxted.
