I'm a diecast collector and as such unless I go Online I am limited in where I can purchase items for my collection(S). Although this shop is primarily a 'trains' shop, Steve is quite happy to look for and order anything die cast I ask him for. If you just want a chat, he's happy to do that as well! A friendly bloke, who knows his stuff. What more can you ask for? As a bonus his prices are very keen too,.a damn sight cheaper than buying on e.bay for instance. This sort of shop is hard to find these days. Totally recommended! Chris

Sawyer Models has only moved to its current address quite recently, so it doesn't yet show on Google streetview (it's where Daisy used to be - almost opposite Iceland). An e-mail enquiry to confirm the shop's location brought a speedy, friendly and helpful reply. This attitude continued when I called in to the shop a week ago. The proprietor was very pleasant and not at all pushy. He explained that he is still trying to build up the stock, which to be truthful isn't yet the most comprehensive. However, many of the basics are stocked, and I did manage to find an item of N gauge pointwork that I needed. I appreciate that small local model shops like this can struggle to compete with the "big boys", but they do provide an important service to long time modellers and beginners alike. Their survival depends on our patronage; so, if you are in this part of the world or passing through the area, do call in. Parking over the road is free and easy (I had to walk 19 yards). I do wish this shop every success for the future - it deserves it.
